I Am Legend - By Shadow Link
As I entered the cinema I noticed that it was for the first time in a while, full and jam packed, the anticipation to this film must of been much more then I was expecting, though I expected it to be pretty good.
As the curtains rolled open and the first frames hit the screen I knew something good was coming my way and boy I was not wrong. The plot goes, A cure for cancer was discovered which was tested and used on people, however it mutated after some time and started killing people, it then became air-bourne and eventually took out 90% of the human population. The last 10% was turned into something else, something that attacks like mad, (sort of like the 28 days later zombie approach) except sunlight burns their skin.
These are the people who haunt the main character and the only immune Robert Neville at night, but he locks himself in his house and dreams of how it all started and happened.
Now I wont give away any spoilers as to the plot, but it is quite an interesting idea that was used, however the film ended very quick and it felt a bit like War of the worlds or children of men, the film went very slow then all of a sudden the ending was within a few minutes and you sort of feel that you were not ready for it.
The visual effects and picture quality were very good and kept the whole movie looking realistic, the screenplay was quite good too, everything seemed to flow nicely and the acting by Will Smith was supurb, the sound of the monsters roars were and I have to admit quite scary, especially in the cinema during those moments that I hate, it's very quite you cannot hear a thing then a very, very loud roar is herd, simple and easy scare and that is what is overused in this film.
Now I won't say it's a bad movie but there were ways it could of improved, the ending was one of those ways and I could seriously see a stupid sequel coming out of this but the film did a good job for the idea which leaves me at scoring time, I rather enjoyed the film, it did just and barely just live to the expectations and gets a 7.4 out of 10.
