10,000 BC - By Shadow Link
At first I wasn't exactly sure what I was going to expect. After looking at very mixed reviews of scores ranging between 1/10 to 8/10, I was not sure if this film was going to hit me at all.
I saw Apocalypto not too long ago but quite enjoyed it, I have to say a lot of that style is brought into this film but also a lot of Roland Emmerich's style too. Some parts feel familiar to his previous film "A Day After Tommorow".
Now after reading so many negative reviews, I question why? This film seriously deserves much better then that. It isn't the best film, but it certainly isn't the worst which quite a few people have called it. Someone even said the special effects were pathetic, well maybe compared to Transformers, but alone it is a very visually stunning film. There are quite a few scenes that are well executed and I feel not even Steven Spielberg could of pulled off so well, however the storyline as I said was quite brief with not much character development and with a pretty linear movement.
So let me tell you about what there is in storyline, obviously this film is based in 10,000 BC so there is no gadgets, the film starts off in a little community out in the middle of no-where, however a small army moves in and takes away villagers and turn them into slaves. They are sent to this much bigger community to help build the pyramids, however one of the survivors from the original community wants to help return them all, but also the girl he loves and will not stop at anything.
I do feel that a few elements might have been missing in this film so I won't give it an A+, but it does get an 8/10 85% and I do question, could the directing have been better executed so well by any other director? I think not, this film is seriously worth a watch.
